What it costs, up front
The Jpresso Academy Roasting Masterclass is RM599. That is the whole programme — all six phases, the complete slide-deck and micro-lesson library, hands-on roasting sessions at the roastery, and a certificate on completion. There is no module-by-module upsell and no separate materials fee.
We publish the price because you should not have to fill in a form to find out whether something is within your budget.
Who this is for
- Cafe owners who are tired of being at the mercy of a supplier's roast profile
- Baristas who can pull a good shot but want to understand what happened before the bean reached them
- Career changers planning a roastery, who need the commercial side as well as the craft
- Serious home roasters who have hit the ceiling of what trial and error teaches
No prior barista qualification is required. The programme starts at green bean science and builds from first principles — if you arrive with experience it will go faster, but nothing assumes it.
The six phases
Roasting is the middle of a long chain. Most short courses teach the drum and skip everything either side of it, which is why people leave able to follow a profile but not to design one. This programme covers the chain end to end.
Generic Green Blueprint
The anatomy, terroir and lifecycle of the green bean before it ever reaches heat.
The Cherry Lifecycle
How decisions made at origin determine what is possible in your roaster.
Stabilisation & the Global Pipeline
What happens between the farm and your door — and how much of it you can control.
The Science of Roasting
The core of the programme, and the longest phase. Curve design from the physics up.
Sensory Analysis & Quality Control
Learning to taste precisely enough to correct a roast rather than guess at it.
Professional Roastery Management
The part most courses leave out: running it as a business that survives.

Teaching happens in a working roastery, not a training room with a demo machine. You learn on equipment that has to produce sellable coffee the next morning, which is a different discipline from roasting for practice.
There are no fixed intake dates. Most roasting schools run cohorts a few times a year, so if you miss one you wait months. We schedule the hands-on sessions around you once you've booked — which means you can start the week you decide to, and work through the online phases at whatever pace your job allows.
Common questions
How much does a coffee roasting course cost in Malaysia?
The Jpresso Academy Roasting Masterclass is RM599 for the complete six-phase programme, including all materials, hands-on roastery sessions and the certificate. Prices elsewhere in Malaysia vary widely depending on whether a course covers only the roast itself or the full chain from green bean to finished product.
Where can I learn coffee roasting in Malaysia?
Jpresso Academy teaches from its working roastery at 29, Jalan Tembaga SD 5/2C, Bandar Sri Damansara, 52200 Kuala Lumpur — accessible from Kepong, Damansara and Bandar Utama. The roastery is open Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, on +60 12-239 3232.
Do I need experience to join?
No. The programme opens with green bean science and builds from first principles. Cafe owners, career changers and serious home roasters all take it without prior formal qualifications.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes — a Jpresso Academy Certificate of Completion once all six phases are finished.
When does the next course start?
Whenever suits you. The masterclass runs on demand rather than in fixed cohorts — there is no waiting list and no intake date to catch. Book a place and we schedule the hands-on roastery sessions around you, so the programme can begin in any week of the year.
Is it online or in person?
Both. Slide decks and micro-lessons are in the online student portal so you can work through theory at your own pace; roasting protocol, cupping and quality audit are done hands-on at the roastery.
Do I keep the materials afterwards?
Yes. The slide-deck library, micro-lesson videos and roastery SOP pack stay available to you through the student portal after the course ends.
I've already enrolled — where do I log in?
Existing students access the masterclass portal at jpressocoffee.com/academy with the access code issued on enrolment.
